Attn: Kinamed Agents:

Attached is the final list of attendees that were present at the ICJR 7th Annual Direct Anterior Approach Hip Course in Houston 9/27-9/28. Please review the list and follow up with those in your territory. All surgeon attendees got the opportunity to use, or at least see our SuperCables in action at the revision hip lab, and all three of our Core Ortho products garnered strong interest at our exhibit.

This was a very successful meeting for Kinamed.  Booth traffic was high, all lab participants who saw SuperCables were impressed, and the scientific presentations were rich in content that supported the use of Kinamed products.

Of particular interest this year was the topic of Cemented Total Hips.  Mark Distin, Kinamed’s Central Region Sales Manager, and corporate representative at the event, provided this report:

Several of the faculty gave talks advocating for a return to cemented total hips in certain populations – specifically elderly patients, for whom they argue that cemented should be the “Standard of Care” because of the far lower incidence of fracture than Press-Fit.  The course chair, Dr. Joseph Moskal of Virginia, authored the attached study on the topic in 2016.  He has been a user of CarboJet in TKA for years, and was pleased to learn about the hip application.

CarboJet needs to be part of that procedure – mostly for the safety & benefit of the patient.  Start with the “low-hanging fruit”, ie, your existing CJ knee surgeons who are also doing cemented THA.  Show them the “Hip Tip”, and encourage them and hospital staff to add CarboJet to their cemented Primary, Revision & Hemi hip procedures

Cemented THA Sales Support Materials

  • This video (click here) is an excellent support piece for this topic.  It is not only the best THA surgical footage available, but it includes commentary from Dr. Reynolds that dives into two key benefits of CarboJet in hips:
    1. It makes the surgery safer, by removing the marrow debris so “you don’t have to worry about emboli or embolization from fat and marrow content into the vascular tree”
    2. CarboJet addresses one potential source of loosening by providing a “grade A cement mantle”.
  • This [linked here] Lassiter et al study: “The results of this study suggest that CO2 gas lavage, as compared to pulsatile saline lavage, reduces the number of intraoperative cardiac emboli during total knee arthroplasty.”
  • Additional Cemented THA reading from Dr. Moskal:
    1. Sept 2018 OTW Interview
    2. 2016 Artho Today
    3. 2016 CORR
  • Industry Trend Report showing the rise of cemented hips in Europe.  They attribute this partially to the lower cost of cemented implants.  This lower cost could be used to justify the addition of CarboJet to the technique.

This growing trend is just one of many reasons now is a great time to be a CarboJet sales rep.  Let us know today if you have any questions on how you can take advantage.
