Attn: Kinamed Agents and Reps,

It has been brought to our attention that some agents and reps may have product brochures or literature sheets that are obsolete and no longer accurately advertise the features of Kinamed’s products. The CarboJet brochure is an excellent example to illustrate our point, because previous versions of it referred to CarboJet as a “lavage system” – which you never want to do.

Rick Gerhart, Eastern Region Sales Manager, recently explained why:

There are several key reasons that you do not want a Surgeon or a Supply Chain Director, or a Purchasing Director to think that this is a lavage on steroids.  Not only can a lavage not yield a clean, lipid free, debris free, and dry surface as a CarboJet, a lavage cannot:

  • Demonstrably increase the cement mantle by reducing the hydrostatic pressure in the tibia and femur (Goldstein study linked here).
  • By increasing the cement mantle, reduce the effect of bone resorption which is a major cause of loosening. (Miller study linked here)
  • Reduce the incidence of emboli in TKR, which is a major concern in joint replacement and has been ever since we invented intramedullary rod alignment on the femur and/or tibia. (Lassiter study linked here)
  • Dramatically assist the surgeon who does tourniquet free TKR by providing a clean, dry, and debris free tibia and femur. (Meneghini study linked here)

Lastly, and most importantly——IF the Hospital thinks that what you are selling is just an improved lavage, THEN you are going to be compared to a lavage in pricing. That is exactly what you don’t want to do to yourself.

Avoid this mistake by taking a few minutes to compare your current stock of literature (including any pdf’s you’ve saved to your phone or hard drive) to that available on the web site or sales portal to make sure all brochures and documents are the current revision level. This can be done by comparing the revision letter located in the bottom right hand corner (see example below of CarboJet brochure) of the last page of each piece to that on the web site or sales portal and ensuring that the letters match. To make this process easy, I have included a list of all marketing literature with the most current revision linked.

In the CJ brochure example below, the most current revision level is “G”. All versions of this brochure of a revision level before G alphabetically are obsolete.

If you have not done so already this is yet another great reason to sign up for our sales portal!  To get started, go to www.kinamedportal.com and click “Create an account”.  Once you create your account, our administrator will be notified to review and approve it.  Once your account is approved, you’ll get a notification that you are free to login.

Let’s work together to ensure all our prospective customers as well as long time users are being presented with the best Kinamed has to offer. If you need new brochures to replace old versions, or if you have any issues creating an account on our sales portal – as always – I’m happy to help.

Best Regards,
