We are pleased to share this peer reviewed journal article, recently published in the Journal of Arthroplasty:

Tourniquetless Total Knee Arthroplasty With Modern Perioperative Protocols Decreases Pain and Opioid Consumption in Women”, by Meneghini et al. (click to view/ download pdf)

This study is based on the data originally presented at the 2017 Winter CCJR and again at the 2018 AAOS meeting (presentation linked here).  Our announcement of the original presentation is included below.

The study is significant and likely to generate interest because it demonstrates a connection between Tourniquetless TKA and a reduction in opioid consumption.  There have been several previous studies that have demonstrated the negative health effects of tourniquet use in TKA, but this is the first to connect the technique to the opioid epidemic.

It is significant to Kinamed in that it names CarboJet as the key to “optimize cement penetration” while performing this technique.

We encourage you to share this publication with your surgeons, but please note that the full article is only accessible via paid subscription or purchase, so you may not provide the full article to surgeons without reporting the transfer of value per “Sunshine Act” requirements.  Because of this, we are providing you with an abstract version of the study, (click here to download) which can be shared freely, and includes instructions for obtaining the full article.

Please let us know if you have any questions or feedback regarding this study or the opportunity that the growing interest in Tourniquetless TKA represents for CarboJet.
