A new presentation on Tourniquetless TKA and CarboJet is now available for your use! R. Michael Meneghini, MD, a well-respected orthopedic thought leader and supporter of CarboJet, has given us permission to share the video of his CCJR Spring 2020 presentation, linked here.

In his presentation, Dr. Meneghini does an excellent job of concisely describing the many benefits of Tourniquetless TKA, which include decreased post-op pain and opioid use, especially in female patients.

A particularly important point that this new presentation makes (at 2:28) is that prior studies have shown that patients on which the tourniquet was used had higher pain scores in the first 24 hours as compared to patients operated on with a fully tourniquetless technique.

According Dr. Meneghini:

Those that used a tourniquet had higher pain scores through the first early period in the first 24 hours. Why is that important? Particularly in the Covid era, same-day discharge is going to become more and more important…

This point is especially relevant today due to the current surge in COVID-19 cases in many places around the world, which motivates both the hospital and patient alike to achieve a quick discharge, which goes hand-in-hand with the accelerating Migration from Hospitals to ASCs.

What does all this mean for Kinamed sales reps? If you aren’t proactively pushing to get CarboJet installed at ASCs and outpatient centers NOW, you will be losing existing business when surgeons start doing their TKAs in the outpatient setting!
